Curtin Engineers Without Borders (CEWB) is a student run chapter of Engineers Without Borders Australia based at Curtin University. Our mission as a chapter is to educate students on the fundamentals of humanitarian engineering, by providing students with the opportunities to connect with communities and create a positive change. National Aims - To improve access to engineering infrastructure and technology. - To embed people centred values and approaches in engineering education and practice. - We aim to inspire a global movement in humanitarian engineering. - We are a part of a wide network of university chapters across Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Australia and play a large role in the WA Region’s EWB activities. - Our programs and initiatives all enable pathways into EWB’s technical teams in the broader WA region, and overseas EWB’s Humanitarian Design Summits in Cambodia, India and Nepal. What we do at CEWB - Provide students with opportunities to develop employability, develop new skills and grow their experience of working in teams. - We run programs and events that provide students with a chance to develop skills to increase employability. - Provide leadership opportunities on-campus and for teams in the WA region. - Offer pathways into international programs for Engineers Without Borders design summit programs that count for exposure to professional practice, where students will travel to India, Cambodia and Nepal during the mid-year holidays and over the summer break. - Provide the platform for entry into the EWB WA region’s various teams. - Run active local partnerships with sustainable and humanitarian focused engineering organisations. - We run school outreach programs and rural trips to schools to promote sustainable and humanitarian engineering. There are many varied roles that require non-engineering backgrounds including community development, digital, monitoring and evaluation, education, sciences, social services, communications, marketing, and fundraising. We encourage everyone, not just engineering students, to join us as members.
